Mixed media installation including music stand with printed text, curtains, chairs plus an accessible steel chamber containing an audio recording. The audio combines voice, plus keyboard played by Adam Wilson, duration 14:14 mins. The narrative is reformulated in The Fabricator’s Tale (Palmer, Book Works, 2015). The stories feature the character, Reality Flickers, who is employed allegorically to represent a critical understanding of sculpture: without a delimiting medium and often with only a description or context to distinguish it from non-art, the subject of sculpture flickers, or becomes indeterminate. Dramatised through storytelling, this fluctuation between absence and presence as artwork becomes a question of life or death for the characters.
